Hello LTAP Centers:
I'd like to give you a heads-up on something new we are trying at the LTAP annual conference this year. On Tuesday, from 3:30-5:00, we have set aside time for small groups to meet. This is for any group with similar interests to come together and talk. We will have a sign-up board for those who want to facilitate a group discussion during that time. Large university centers? Newsletter editors? Training coordinators? UTCs? You decide.
The TTAPs and DOT-Centers will be meeting at this time. All the groups will be listed in one place for easy reference.
We're hoping that LTAP regions will choose to meet over a breakfast, like they often do, so we can use this time for other kinds of meetings.
The idea for setting aside this time for small groups came from the International Symposium last year, when we had some very interesting scheduled side meetings (DOT-Centers and the meeting with NTTD come to mind). Also, I have heard at other LTAP conferences that it's difficult to get like-minded groups together to talk, without some kind of structure, or venue. So... We're providing one this year, and we'll see how it goes. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity. – Lisa Harris, NLTAPA president
